The design of these Jacquard Crew Socks "FairIsle" is inspired by traditional Scottish Fair Isle sweaters. The geometric pattern is carefully and finely knitted for a typical hand-knit look. Each color combination is rigorously selected with reference to original patterns. Although Fair Isle sweaters are originally made of wool, this pair is knitted from organic cotton, allowing them to be worn year-round. The specific organic cotton yarn used here is produced using a unique spinning method called "compact spinning," making it durable and resistant to fraying over time.
ROTOTO socks are manufactured in Japan's largest sock-producing region, Nara Prefecture. The area has been known for its quality textiles since the 17th century. Industrial sock production was first introduced in 1910 when a man from the former village of Umami (now Koryocho) imported a weaving machine from the United States to his hometown after his study trip to the country.
ROTOTO places great value on collaboration in its product research: "We start by selecting the right yarns with craftsmen to develop the design of a new material. After that, we choose the knitting machines based on the type of material and the use of the product. This may involve rare machines that have a specific use, old non-computerized knitting machines, or on the contrary, modern high-tech tools.
ROTOTO socks can only be made by combining the right materials, the right machine, and the craftsman's expertise.
"Preserving the tradition inherited from previous generations, while painting the future with a fresh perspective. We will continue to try to produce things that can only be created here."
