Description

As the first chino created by Sugar & Co., the Daddy's Chino draws inspiration from classic American trousers, particularly pleated styles from the 1980s. Rather than simply reproducing the military or workwear influences traditionally associated with chinos, the Japanese label takes a more tailored approach, creating a relaxed yet carefully balanced silhouette. This interpretation offers freedom of movement while maintaining a refined appearance that works naturally in everyday settings.

The trousers are made from 100% cotton twill, featuring a soft, subtly brushed texture. The fabric combines a structured feel with a gentle sheen, recalling the distinctive hand of vintage American chinos. Stitching and construction details also reference 1980s production techniques. In this Brown version, the rich colour enhances the texture of the fabric and introduces a warm character, particularly suited to combinations with ecru, beige, indigo or olive tones.

The two inward-facing pleats structure the front of the trousers while providing generous room through the hips and thighs. The leg gradually narrows towards the hem, creating a balanced silhouette despite its relaxed proportions. A partially elasticated waistband improves comfort and freedom of movement, while the One Wash treatment helps stabilize the garment's dimensions. With time and wear, the cotton may become increasingly supple and develop a subtle patina unique to its wearer.
