Description

Created to celebrate five years of Sugar & Co., the Gentle Pants reflect the Japanese label's approach to reinterpreting classic silhouettes. Drawing inspiration from the Daddy's Pants, they borrow the clean lines and refined appearance of traditional tailoring while retaining the comfort and relaxed feel associated with the brand. The use of selvedge denim, a fabric more commonly associated with jeans, highlights Sugar & Co.'s ability to bring together different elements of menswear.

The fabric is made from Supima cotton, an American extra-long staple variety valued for its softness and durability. Its intentionally irregular yarns are rope-dyed in deep indigo before being woven at low tension on vintage shuttle looms in Japan's Bitchu-Bingo region. The resulting denim is supple and comfortable, with subtle surface irregularities and a distinctive texture reminiscent of traditional vintage fabrics.

Incorporating selvedge denim into a tailored trouser silhouette required particular attention to pattern making and construction, allowing the selvedge edges to follow the outer seams without compromising the overall shape. The fabric receives a One Wash treatment to stabilize its dimensions and soften the material from the first wear. Over time, the indigo will gradually fade through wear and washing, developing lighter shades and a patina unique to each wearer.

Fit & Sizing

The Gentle Pants feature a relaxed, slightly tapered straight fit, offering a comfortable and well-balanced silhouette. Inspired by traditional tailored trousers, they provide generous room for movement while maintaining a more structured appearance than conventional wide-leg pants. Their versatility makes them equally suited to a shirt and leather shoes or a simple t-shirt and sneakers.

Thanks to the One Wash treatment, further shrinkage after washing should be limited. We nevertheless recommend checking the size guide and garment measurements to find the most suitable fit.
