Description

While ONI Denim is best known for its spectacularly textured denim fabrics, the brand proves with this West Point Chino that it is equally capable of producing more refined textiles. Rather than embracing deliberate irregularity, ONI has chosen an authentic West Point cloth, also known in Japan as "Weapon"—a contraction of West Point. Originally developed for the uniforms of the prestigious American military academy of the same name, this fabric remains one of the finest examples of high-quality cotton twill.

Unlike a conventional chino fabric, which is generally woven using single yarns, West Point cloth is constructed with plied yarns in both the warp and the weft. This gives the fabric superior structure, enhanced durability and a cleaner drape, while providing an immediate sense of substance and premium quality from the very first touch.

The fabric also undergoes a Cold Mercerized treatment, a finishing process that strengthens the cotton fibres while improving colour retention and overall stability. When new, this treatment gives the fabric a subtle natural sheen. The One Wash process softens this effect, resulting in a more understated appearance while preserving an exceptionally smooth hand and a rich visual depth.

The West Point Chino features ONI's renowned 747 fit, often referred to as the "Magic Silhouette". Its moderately high rise provides excellent support, while the comfortable top block offers ease through the hips and thighs. The leg gradually tapers towards the hem, creating a modern, well-balanced silhouette that pairs just as naturally with sneakers as it does with more formal footwear.
