With the 2949 Roughneck Moc Toe, Red Wing Shoes reimagines its iconic Moc Toe model in a more rugged, outdoor-oriented version. Inspired by 1950s work boots, the Moc Toe was originally designed to meet the needs of farmers and workers exposed to harsh conditions, combining comfort, protection, and durability.

The name Moc Toe refers to “moccasin,” derived from Algonquian languages, describing the characteristic U-shaped toe construction. This distinctive design has become a signature of the brand, blending heritage and functionality.

The 2949 model stands out thanks to its Black Oil Slick leather, a full-grain oiled leather that is both supple and durable, developing a rich patina over time. Its deep black tone gives it a clean, versatile look suitable for both urban and outdoor wear.

Mounted on a Vibram® Lug outsole, this Roughneck version takes a more technical approach than the classic Moc Toe. The lugged sole significantly improves grip and stability, making it ideal for varied terrain and intensive use.
