The Mil Watch Cap by Rototo is a faithful reinterpretation of the classic sailor beanie, inspired by military and workwear headwear from the early 20^th century. Knitted in thick, durable cotton, it offers a dense texture while remaining breathable, making it ideal for year-round wear. Its intentionally short height allows it to be worn cuffed, reinforcing its utilitarian and authentic character.

The distinctive feature of this model lies in its indigo dye, applied using a traditional process. Over time and with wear, the color will naturally evolve, developing a unique patina specific to each beanie. The tight knit ensures a secure fit without excessive compression, providing lasting everyday comfort.

ROTOTO products are made in Japan’s largest sock and knit accessory production region, Nara Prefecture. This area has been renowned for its textile craftsmanship since the 17^th century. Industrial knitwear production began there in 1910, when a resident of the former village of Umami (now Koryocho) imported a knitting machine from the United States, giving rise to a tradition that remains alive today.

ROTOTO places great importance on collaboration in its product development: “We begin by selecting the right yarns together with artisans to develop the design of a new material. After that, we choose the knitting machines according to the type of material and the intended use of the product. These may be rare machines designed for specific purposes, old non-computerized knitting machines, or, on the contrary, modern high-tech equipment.”
