The 505 jeans from TCB are inspired by designs that appeared in the United States in the 1960s, a time when denim moved from workwear to becoming the casual garment we know today. Its lighter indigo shade reflects the democratization of denim, whose original dark hue was intended to hide stains (dust, oil, etc.). These jeans are crafted from approximately 13oz selvedge denim, woven from cotton sourced from the San Joaquin Valley in California. This specific type of cotton, known for being naturally fluffier than other types, provides the perfect texture that TCB was looking for. The slight natural irregularities of the fabric come from the variations in thread thickness and the tensions produced by the vintage loom used in its creation. In addition to having been washed once, the jeans have been pre-shrunk ("Pre-Shrunk") to prevent any potential shrinkage and also to remove the twisting seam effect ("leg twist") that is often found in vintage jeans reproductions.
Like other models offered by TCB, the details echo vintage jeans, such as the paper patch, copper rivets, pink selvedge edge, and chain-stitched seams done on the legendary Union Special 43200G. An important detail, the famous Red Tab is also present on one of the back pockets. Unlike the 50's button-up model, this one features a Gripper Zipper fly, replacing the original Talon zippers that are no longer produced.
The TCB 505 offers a slim straight fit, comfortable on the thigh and then slightly tapering from the knee down to the ankle, with a very high waist that fits snugly, typical of vintage jeans.
