ONI is a mysterious label behind which hides a true denim enthusiast who has dedicated 60 years of his life to denim. Always in pursuit of perfection, Oishi-san is in constant search and solely devoted to production. This is why you won't find an official website or Instagram page for the brand. It is also the reason why the label is only distributed in a few select stores around the world and exclusively at Flâneurs for France. For this reissue of the Crushed Concrete, the Demon brand offers us a limited Black x Black version.

Now an iconic fabric of the Japanese label, Crushed Concrete takes the base of the Secret Super Rough, reimagined in a lighter 15oz version made from the same warp and weft yarns, allowing for the typical slub and neppy texture. For this version of Crushed Concrete, ONI pays homage to the Kabuki, a traditional Japanese theater known for its spectacular acting, often accompanied by striking makeup and stage settings. For this, the usual pink selvedge edge is presented here in the colors of the Kabuki theaters' curtains: black, orange, and green.

This type of fabric is impossible to produce on modern machines, as shuttle looms must be set at very low tension to create this fabric. This low tension, referred to as "low tension," literally causes the machines to vibrate during denim production. By combining this weaving technique with the use of naturally irregular yarn, the fabric becomes even more textured than a typical slub. However, few manufacturers dare to venture into this, as this technique is difficult to master.

The Japanese "Tempi" treatment (washing and sun drying) also adds character to the fabric and makes it more comfortable, while significantly reducing the risk of shrinkage typically seen in a non-sanforized fabric like this one. Additionally, fabrics woven at low tension often experience significant relaxation, quickly acquiring suppleness and comfort.

The 902 "High Rise Relaxed Tapered" is a contemporary cut, featuring a well-fitted high rise, followed by a comfortable thigh opening and finishing with a tapered fit from the knee to the ankle.
