The 1896 Upcycle by Studio d’Artisan is part of the “Upcycle” collection, which transforms textile waste (deadstock denim, threads, old factory jeans) into a new, solid and aesthetic fabric. It is made from a Duck Canvas weighing approximately 13oz, crafted from upcycled cotton fibers that are re-spun from unused materials. Inspired by the Japanese concept of mottainai (“waste nothing”), this model embodies the brand’s responsible and creative approach.

Its dense, textured and vibrant canvas reflects the excellence of Japanese weaving and draws from vintage denim codes while integrating a contemporary upcycling mindset. Its straight and comfortable fit, combined with a mid-rise waist, offers a versatile silhouette that stays true to the brand’s workwear roots while adapting to modern styles. Iconic details are preserved, including a button fly with 5 original SDA buttons, engraved copper rivets, rear pockets with original SDA embroidery, and a leather patch made from recycled materials.

The jeans come in a one wash version to prevent shrinkage during home washing while maintaining the texture of the fabric. They pair well with both rugged wardrobes and urban outfits, and their medium weight makes them wearable year-round.
