Samurai Jeans is a Japanese brand founded in 1997 by Toru Nogami in Osaka, Japan. From the very beginning, Nogami-san distinguished himself by pushing the boundaries of denim, focusing on heavy fabrics, artisanal details, and meticulous finishing. Inspired by the spirit of the samurai, he aimed to create jeans combining durability, aesthetics, and authenticity.
In 2004, Samurai Jeans introduced the 19oz Kiwami denim, one of the heaviest on the market at the time. The S510XX19ozII is a reissue of this iconic 19oz Kiwami previously discontinued during the brand’s model refresh. Due to growing demand, Samurai Jeans revived this model while preserving the raw, robust texture characteristic of this denim. It remains the only Regular Straight model in the 19oz series, providing an alternative to more tapered cuts. The fabric combines fine warp yarns (#5) and thicker weft yarns (#4) to create a rigid, dense denim. Rope-dyed indigo gives deep color and striking fade contrasts, while the pronounced slubby texture develops naturally over time.
The Samurai S510XX19ozII is a mid-rise, straight-leg jean made from a dense and textured selvedge denim woven slowly on a traditional shuttle loom, and features one of Samurai Jeans’ most iconic signatures: the Silver Lamé selvedge edge. Representing the spirit of the samurai, this selvedge incorporates a silver metallic thread (lamé) along the edge of the denim, evoking the shine of a katana blade and enhancing the visual identity and uniqueness of each pair.
Details include a 5-button “Sunrise” fly, copper rivets, a vegetable-tanned leather patch, pocket bags in exclusive jacquard, and raised belt loops, highlighting the meticulous finishing and Japanese craftsmanship.
This model runs small, so we recommend choosing one size larger than your usual size.
