Samurai Jeans is a Japanese brand founded in 1997 by Toru Nogami in Osaka, Japan. From the very beginning, Nogami-san distinguished himself with a desire to push the limits of denim, focusing on heavy fabrics, artisanal details, and meticulous finishing. Inspired by the spirit of the samurai, he aimed to create jeans that combine durability, aesthetics, and authenticity.
In 2008, in order to redefine what “Made in Japan” truly means, Nogami-san launched the "Samurai Cotton Project". This ambitious project aimed to locally grow organic cotton, turn it into yarn, and weave denim fabrics entirely in Japan, ensuring 100% Japanese production. After years of experimentation and challenges, the project resulted in the creation of unique fabrics, such as "Kinari", showcasing local craftsmanship and resources.
The Samurai S510SC-KI is a straight-leg, mid-rise jean made from Samurai Cotton grown locally in Sasayama, Hyogo. This cotton is spun into irregular yarns to create a 18oz denim with a dense hand and characteristic slubby texture. The denim is woven slowly on a traditional shuttle loom, giving the fabric a tight structure and exceptional durability. The natural “Kinari” color is achieved without dyeing or bleaching, preserving the raw, organic appearance of the cotton.
Details include a “Rising Sun” iron button fly, copper rivets, a brown vegetable-tanned leather patch, pocket bags in Syogi Mujo jacquard, and raised belt loops, highlighting the meticulous finishing and Japanese craftsmanship.
This model runs small; we recommend choosing one size larger than your usual size.
