"More Wear, More Wonderful" is the guiding principle followed by Omoto Denim, a young Japanese label created by Hiroki Kishimoto, former CEO of Japan Blue Jeans. By surrounding himself with the best Japanese craftsmen, Omoto Denim aims to continue to promote Japanese denim craftsmanship, preserving the skills and traditional techniques that have made its reputation.
The denim used here, weighing a versatile 13.5oz, is made from a blend of American and Zimbabwean cottons. Memphis cotton (65%) is a raw cotton that combines firmness and flexibility, while Zimbabwean cotton (35%) offers a good balance between softness and durability. This denim, woven on a low-tension Sakamoto shuttle loom from the 1950s, features pure indigo rope-dyeing on its warp threads and retains a white weft thread. This combination ensures the typical look and fluffy texture of 1950s jeans as well as a rich and nuanced patina to come.
The 0415 Straight Fit is a modern cut, inspired by tailor-made trousers and the structure of the human body. Its medium rise, designed to sit on the hips, is accompanied by a comfortable thigh opening and a tapered leg from the knee to the hem.
