"More Wear, More Wonderful" is the guiding principle followed by Omoto Denim, a young Japanese label created by Hiroki Kishimoto, former CEO of Japan Blue Jeans. Surrounding himself with the best Japanese artisans, Omoto Denim aims to continue promoting Japanese denim craftsmanship by preserving the skills and traditional techniques that have built its reputation.
The denim used here, weighing a versatile 13.5oz, is made from a blend of American and Zimbabwean cottons. The Memphis cotton (65%) is a raw cotton that combines firmness and flexibility, while the Zimbabwean cotton (35%) offers a good balance between softness and durability. This denim is woven at low tension on a 1950s Sakamoto shuttle loom, featuring pure indigo rope dyeing on its warp yarns and preserving a white weft yarn. This combination ensures the typical appearance and fluffy texture of 1950s jeans as well as a rich and nuanced patina to develop over time.
The 0815 Loose Fit is a generously voluminous cut, inspired by tailor-made trousers and the structure of the human body. Its high waist, intended to sit at the navel, is accompanied by a wide leg from thigh to hem.
